Slipped disc is a term that is used when a disc (cartilage disc in between the vertebra) bulges out of position.
The disc can bulge out and then put pressure on the adjacent nerve root in the spine.
A slipped disc can occur in the neck which may cause pain down the arm and into the fingers.
More commonly a slipped disc occurs in the lower back which often causes pain down the back of the leg (sciatica) and maybe altered sensation such as pins and needles or numbness.
